Security Guidlines for Webmail Access

Do not access the service from PCs in cybercafes and any such unsafe/unknown locations. There is risk of password being compromised. In case the access is unavoidable from such locations, follow the security practices given below for relatively safe access.


  • Do not click OK/YES to the "Remember Password" prompts displayed by web browsers.
  • Close all browser windows at the end of the access.
  • Delete autocomplete history (stored passwords and form data) before and after the access. The procedure to do this for various browsers is given below:

    Internet Explorer 8/9/10
    - Select "Tools" then "Internet Options"
    - Open the "Content" tab
    - Click the "Settings" button in AutoComplete section
    - Click the "Clear Passwords" to delete stored passwords
    - Click the "Clear forms" button to delete all AutoComplete form data

    Firefox 35/36
    - Select "Tools"
    - Select "Options"
    - Select "Privacy"
    - Select "clear your recent history" link
    - Select "Everything" in top dropdown menu
    - Select all check boxes in "Details" section - Click "Clear Now"

    Google Chrome
    - Press "Customize and control Google Chrome" button
    - Click "Settings"
    - Go to "Privacy" section
    - Click "Clear browsing data" button
    - Select "the beginning of time" in top dropdown menu
    - Select all check boxes
    - Click "Clear Browsing data"
